Let me assure you

I've tried
Don't doubt it I took the bark from the one tree
worth drawing it was a tree
that might have fallen had I not
 stopped

I rubbed the bark on my teeth am yet
to notice the difference

Back where I live
I knocked
thought of that weak voice as a request
for absence
I sucked in as though someone were proud
of my ability to breathe poorly

wondered if disappearance might
 be worth another shot
 if not now
perhaps tomorrow
